I regularly receive requests for sympathy cards for people who have a lost a pet. Although, I can not think of a multitude of fresh ideas for pet bereavement cards, what few ideas I do have, I try to make special.
To make today’s cards, what you’ll need is a 4″ x 5.25″ panel of watercolor paper; cold or hot press are both fine.
Next, using a larger brush, lay down a large blob of water on to the panel. With the tip of your wet brush, pull color from your watercolor palette (I used Altenew’s Watercolor Palette–which I LOVE) and dab it into your puddle of water on the panel. Add different colors of your choice and watch the colors meld together–that’s kind of fun 🙂
Then, on an acrylic block, blend a watery color of your choice (I used a teal/green), pull it up with the larger brush and then flick some splatters onto your artwork.
Let air-dry or use your heat tool before the next step.
Now, using the MFT Staggered Paw Stencil, center one of the paws on your watercolored panel and sponge it with Ranger’s Emboss It Dauber. Then heat-emboss the paw with gold embossing powder (I used WOW’s Gold Rich). Your sentiment can also be embossed in gold. (I gold-embossed my sentiment and then hand-cut the banner).
Adhere your sentiment onto the panel and then the panel onto your card base. Using the largest frame from Memory Box Stitched Frame Dies, die-cut your frame from white cardstock and adhere that on top of the watercolor panel. It’s a perfect fit if using the measurements mentioned above.
Finally, die-cut a little heart shape in red, pink or maybe blue or purple, and glue that right in the middle of the paw print.
Thank you so much for hanging out with me today 🙂
