How about some fun with Patterned Paper? This set is called Urban Plaid.

To create this “pattern”, cut 1/2-inch strips from each of the colors in the pack. You only need seven strips, so you’ll be leaving one color out — your choice. Glue these down to an approximate 4 x 5″ panel. Once dry, die-cut with the Celebrate Die. Be sure to leave a 2.75 x 3.5″ section to make your patterned background.

I cut another white panel with a Tim Holtz Deckle Edge Trimmer to about 4 x 5.25″. Criss-cross some twine across another 4 x 5.25″ white panel in different colors, taping down the ends on the reverse side. Your vellum panel is going to be about 2.25 x 3″. Adhere the completed layers as shown using glue and dimensional foam adhesive as desired.

Have a great day!
