I made this card for my brother who was promoted to a police Captain, but it looks like it would work for Independence Day /Fourth of July/Patriotic/Americana doesn’t it?
There’s also a rather big mistake I made on this card, but I made it work ๐

First, on a 4″ x 5.25″ card panel, I blended the two inks, All That Jazz in the center and then Queen for a Day blended on out towards the edges. (I should have added some more of the Jazz color ๐ )
My “happy accident” (thank you, Bob Ross) was made when I forgot to let the ink dry and to use my powder tool before embossing the stars. But look what a sparkly effect it created!
The stars were made using Catherine Pooler’s Star Stencil and WOW Metallic Brass Embossing Powder. I used the same powder for the Celebrate die-cut which was made with two layers of the cut glued together. I wrapped a 1.75″-wide strip of vellum around the panel and glued the Celebrate die-cut down. After gluing the panel down to the card base, I dotted Nuvo Drops around the design.

Awesome card and so fitting for your brother’s promotion. I love the galaxy feel from the stray embossing powder.
Thank you, Dana ๐
I love it when mistakes become amazing!! I know your brother will love it. Congrats to him by the way. I have to tell you I am loving this hop but I was drawn to your site because of your first name. My sister’s name was also Nanette. Unfortunately she passed at an early age of 46 and I miss her everyday. You are a pleasant reminder…. thanks for sharing your talents.
Thank you, Anne ๐ I appreciate your comment and sweet words.
Oh wow, this is really beautiful
Thank you, Gab ๐
