I LOVE when Catherine Pooler Designs issues a new release, but this one is extra special to me… Why? Because I designed and illustrated two of the products in this release!!
But first, I want to welcome you to Day 3 of Catherine Pooler’s Kind of Batty Blog Hop ( <– click to start on Day 1). Be sure to comment for a chance to win along the hop! There has been some fun, fun creations and inspiration “hoppin’ around” the last three days! You will want to see these!
This is a two-part release — Going Batty and Kind of Wonderful, thus it is called Kind of Batty 🙂 There are also two new ink colors, Wow embossing powders and Nuvo Drops in the shop! Today, I will be focusing on the Kind of Wonderful part of the release.
I’ve been bursting at the seams to be able to share this with you and have been holding it all in for the last few months! The wonderful Catherine Pooler invited me to move forward on this design that I had sketched and shown to her and I was thrilled to comply 🙂 So I created the Kind of Wonderful Stamp Set and the coordinating Three of a Kind Die Set.
This stamp set has many additional words in the set that can be arranged in quite a few different phrases! To help show off these sets, I am also using the Hello Autumn Stamp Set also included in this release. It’s a beautiful multi-layer stamp illustrated by Traci Reed. This set includes a great coordinating die set, as well.
The Three of a Kind Die Set has three layering dies, which each can also be used on its own, too. There is the (small) contour die, the (medium) cookie-cutter die, and the (large) background die.
To create a set of cards like this, start off by stamping “Kind,” with colors from Life of the Party Collection; Flirty Fuschia, Party Dress, Aquatini and Tiki Torch and then die-cutting them with the small die. (I used glossy cardstock in my example today for that top layer). On a piece of white cardstock, turn each pad up-side-down and smear on gently to make four pieces of matching cardstock. Then use the medium die to cut the second layer. With the large die, make four black die-cuts. Layer and glue them, as shown below. This arrangement of layers creates such nice dimension!
Center each assembled piece in the center of four 3.75″ x 5″ white cardstock panels. With Midnight ink, stamp any additional words from the stamp set that you wish. The ones used today are “You are Kind of (1) amazing (2) wonderful (3) awesome (4) special.”
The Hello Autumn Stamp set has four different leaves (and a pair of acorns), each with four steps. Pretty cool, huh? Since the main sentiment we are working with has so much detail from the little floral elements to the three-layer dies, you may want to just use a single layer, the first step, of each type of Hello Autumn leaves. As you can see below, you can still add a few, little touches of fun. In these examples, I again matched the ink.
The Party Dress card shows the spines of the leaves penned with a black fineliner.
The Aquatini card has some black Nuvo drops placed in the center of each leaf to appear as flowers.
The Tiki Torch card has black Nuvo drops placed randomly around the edge.
The Flirty Fuschia card’s leaves were detailed with a white gel pen.
These cards were completed with a black 4″ x 5.25″ cardstock layer and then adhered to a white card base.
These were SO much fun! I can’t wait to see what YOU create!
PRIZES! There are three days of blog hops, with three prizes to give away! One commenter from all the blogs will be chosen for each day to win a $25 gift certificate to CatherinePooler.com. Good luck!
