I am so excited to share this inspiration post for one of the three categories (listed below); The Die Cut Delight Challenge!
For this card, I used a combo of stamps and dies from Pinkfresh Studio and Avery Elle.
But first I started with a stencil by Tim Holtz. Using Therm O Web Purple Tape, I taped the Bricked Layering Stencil over a white cardstock panel on my Glass Media Mat. Then I used a Blending Tool to blend Ranger’s Archival Shadow Grey Ink to make a bricked background. This a two-stage process as the stencil doesn’t initially fill the panel. (See photo below).
On another white panel, I used an assortment of Ranger’s Archival Ink colors to stamp the cactus images from Pinkfresh Simply Succulents Stamp Set.
The delicate Pinkfresh Terrarium Dies were die cut with a shiny gold cardstock. I adhered, with tiny glue drops, three layers together; the stamped panel, a clear acetate sheet and then the Terrarium die cuts. Then I hand-cut each completed terrarium closely around the edge. The clear plastic, acetate creates realistic-looking little panes in the terrarium 🙂
On another white scrap of cardstock, I stamped the Avery Elle Banner Bits sentiment and banner. Then I used the coordinating Banner Bits die and ran it through my Sizzix Sidekick Machine. In fact, all the dies used today fit through that little machine!
I arranged all these pieces on the bricked panel, adhering them with Pop Dots. I used a grey Zig Brush Pen to create shadowing below the plants. Then I attached the completed panel to a black-on-white card base.
I made some accidental smudges on my bricked layer, so I inked, cut out and pasted a few random bricks to cover my mistakes. It created some fun dimension, though 🙂
