I was excited to receive Arteza’s Expert Watercolor Pencils for Christmas! I love using water color pencils because they allow a lot of control when painting. Today’s Watercolor Balloon Birthday Card project is created with these pencils plus a little sketching and lettering.
I started with a 3.75″ x 5″ Fabriano Watercolor Paper panel. I sketched several overlapping balloons with a Palomino Blackwing Pencil, erasing some of the intersecting lines.
I colored in each balloon with different colored pencils, laying heavier color where there would be shading and also around the edge of each balloon. Then I used an Aqaush Water Brush Pen to blend the color.
I outlined the balloons and drew the lines with a Tombow Pigment Fineliner, then penned the sentiment with a Tombow Brush Pen. TIP: Try penciling it in first, so you don’t crunch your letters like I did 🙂 I finished the panel with some Nuvo Crystal Drops and adhered it to my layered card base.
Have a great day 🙂
